Week Three: Monday, July 13th-Saturday, July 19th
Monday, July 14th:
Saturday, July 19th:
- Interview due night at midnight tonight
- read Annotated Bibliography prompt
- Take a virtual library tour: First, read through the tutorials: “Getting Started,” ‘Get It,” “Getting Started with RefWorks” (you don’t have to use RefWorks, but I highly recommend it), “Using Subject Headings,” and “Find it.”
- Find a Peer Reviewed, scholarly source (let UW libraries give you a couple minute explanation about this) through the library website and use for Tuesday’s blog assignment. This can be an article you’ll use for your annotated bibliography, but it doesn’t have to be.
- Research for Annotated Bibliography
- Blog Assignment Nine: How does the academic writing differ from the writing you’ve been doing? Find an article and do a rhetorical analysis in which you compare and contrast an interview for a popular publication and an academic piece of work--use specific examples of each to back up your claims.
- Between now and Friday, complete two blog posts (Assignments Ten and Eleven) in which you respond to the academic work you’ve been reading and how it has made you think about your topic differently. Let your peers know how your project is going.
- Check in on your peers’ blogs, especially those that are related to your topic. Maybe they have sources that will help you out--go ahead and use those sources. You can always share sources, you just can’t share the text that shows up in your annotations. The purpose of now until Friday is to comment on each other’s blog posts, to respond to comments--help each other work through ideas that will lead you to writing an engaging publication project. Again, go beyond, “Cool idea” comments.
- See Wednesday
- Blog Assignment Twelve: Free post (and comment on three other people's free posts!)
- Read Chapter 4, “Working with Multimodal Sources”
Saturday, July 19th:
- Midterm email. Review your feedback and shoot me an email letting me know how it’s all going.
- Post Annotated Bibliography to drop box and add a tab to your website.
